This is a graphics card thread to get some clarity hopefully on professional vs consumer graphics cards and 3dsmax 2015.
I have a few questions, in the past it seemed that professional cards with large scenes was the way to go. I ran a gtx 680 and even had a gtx Titan, the viewport in max 2013 seemed to slow down and lag when selecting objects especially using 4 viewports at once with just wireframe. it also seemed to really slow down when selecting vray lights in the scene and trying to move them. So I went ahead and bought a Firepro, it's good and fast for what it is.
It seems with some testing now with 3dsmax 2015 with it's performance upgrades for the viewport, that my gtx 680 is running just as fast as my Firepro. Now I would love to make the switch and put in a few Geforce cards for viewport and GPU rendering using vray cuda, cause openCL doesn't really seem to work. Has anyone else experienced this or can someone else also do some testing with gaming cards and professional cards in max 2015?
